The Mead Centre has successfully held Time 4 Everyone sessions, since the energy crisis started two years ago. It is now delighted to be the first, in the local area, to introduce the Chatty Café Scheme (thechattycafescheme.co.uk) into those sessions, from October 2024, between 11am-1pm, every Thursday.
When visiting for the first time, there is at least one table, identified with a bright yellow Chatty Café sign. A trained volunteer will be ready to have a chat and get the conversation started. Interesting connections have already been made between strangers, who are now friends. A good cup of tea/coffee and a chat, in a warm environment, takes you away just for a little bit and can make a real difference.
Visitors may also like to try their hand at making simple crafts, playing board/card games or just catching up on local news and activities. No previous skill required!
If you have recently moved to the area, going through a tough time, a new parent or would like to meet people - come along! Visitors are welcome to pop in for a short or longer time. Bring a friend or come alone; you will receive a warm welcome from the Mead Centre team.
Additionally, if you are interested in volunteering for an hour or two weekly or on a rota basis, please contact 01908 739716. We are keen to talk to you!
Light refreshments are available during the session, let us know if you have dietary requirements.
